Vet-Con 2023 Date and Times

 Date and Times

The Con will be at the Holiday Inn Express on Hwy 49 in Auburn, CA .
Veteran's Day is Friday the 10th of November, hence, the convention will run as follows -

Thursday the 9th from 5 pm - when we're done.
Friday the 10th - 9 AM - when we're done.
Saturday the 11th - 9 AM - when we're done.

These times are contingent on how many games we have going and at what times. I will adjust the times as the Schedule of Events comes together.

I am reserving Sunday for a travel day so no gaming will take place that day allowing for late-night gaming on Saturday and hopefully a leisurely drive home for attendees.

Games will be listed as they are scheduled on the Schedule of Events page. I reserve the right to make adjustments as necessary for a balanced schedule. I will notify you prior to making any changes to the schedule with the GM. Remember to keep checking this site for updates.

There are two convention rooms, the Sierra and the Auburn Terrace.

Welcome!

Hello and welcome to the second annual VetCon miniature gaming convention in the beautiful Gold Rush town of Auburn, CA. The first event was wildly successful and validated my desire to bring back the old days of some great conventions like ViciCon - and to have a convention by miniature gamers, for miniature gamers.

I want to host a convention where the costs will not be a contributing factor, hence,  this year the convention will have a nominal fee of $20 to cover expenses. This can be paid through Venmo, PayPal, Zelle, or good old hard cash at the event. Contact me at my contact info below if you would like to pay electronically and I will provide you my information or just bring cash to the con. I will also be able to take Square there as well. Please make sure that you register for the con through the link on the right. You don't need to pay to register, we will get to that in good time.

We will have a themed event this year based on some suggestions. The theme is "Warfare in the Americas". Just because the convention has a theme does not mean you cannot host miniature games of all sorts. It's just that the theme will have some prizes based on presentation (miniatures and terrain) and player enjoyment. The theme is any battles, skirmishes, and adventures that took or could have taken place in North, Central, or South America including offshore and in the skies. So think Conquistadors and Aztecs, Great Lake battles in the War of 1812, Japanese in the Aleutians, etc.

Although I made this a miniatures convention, which is primarily a historical gaming convention, please don't think you cannot host a sci-fi or fantasy-based game.

I hope this is a huge success and will continue to lead to further conventions down the line. Finally, the focus is to get together with friends, many of whom I have been gaming with for 40+ years, and have fun. To this end, please be courteous and respectful. Ask GM's if they need assistance tearing down, bring rulers or tape measures, and above all, don't be a Richard. Players displaying poor behavior will be asked to leave. As the saying goes, "If you build it, they will come" and come, I hope you do.

Oh! Did I mention the Bring and Buy? Bring your excess wargaming items and there will be tables set up for you to display your items all week for free! Just place your name and phone number on a piece of paper so people can reach out to you while your hosting or playing in a game to close the deal.

I'm looking forward to seeing everyone and having some fun.
